Second Wrong-Way Accident Fatality of 2019 Occurs North of Little Rock, AR

Location: Southbound I-40 near Morgan-Maumelle Exit 142

Details: According to a report from the Arkansas State Police, a vehicle traveling the wrong way on I-40 in Arkansas near Exit 142 to Maumelle in the early morning hours of January 6th., 2019 crashed into an ambulance returning to Little Rock.

The occupants of the ambulance—Paul Sanchez, 22, of North Little Rock, and Darius Williams, 23, of Maumelle—sustained minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle going the wrong way—Briana Carter, 21, of Little Rock—died at the scene.

The incident is the second reported wrong-way accident so far in 2019 on Arkansas roads. Another incident just days before led to a fatality of the driver driving the wrong way near Hot Springs, AR.
