I became a lawyer because. . . I was jealous of what they had – the ability to help people and to fight for what they believe is right. In business, it seemed we were always calling the attorneys for something and I remember thinking, “I need to know what they know.” I went for pragmatic reasons but quickly realized that being a lawyer is a high calling. We fight for justice for those who have been wronged. As a lawyer, I offer hope to people who have been injured, cheated, or lied to.
What I like most about the law is . . . In America, we have recourse for injustice. The lowest among us can take the highest to court. We take it for granted but there are many places in the world where that is not the case and whoever has the most money or the most guns is above the law. On our Supreme Court building, it says, “Equal Justice for All,” and our legal system offers that better than any in the world.
When you need an attorney. . . Hire the lawyer you would most hate to be on the other side.
I joined the Brad Hendricks Law Firm because . . . I knew Brad Hendricks and Tre Kitchens from outside of work and I saw how hard they worked for their clients and how much it means to them to get good results. I also wanted to work for a firm with a great reputation and The Brad Hendricks Law Firm has that—both in the community and in the profession.
The Brad Hendricks Law Firm is different from other law firms because . . . The people at the firm care about our clients in a meaningful way.
If I had to attempt another profession, I would try . . . College professor because I like teaching and I like the academic environment at a university where there are a lot of smart people trying to make progress in every area.
A job I would never choose to do is . . . Roofer because my body works better on flat surfaces.
My friends describe me as . . . Honest, smart, and funny.
My opponents describe me as . . . Hopefully the same as my friends but maybe add “scary.”
Someone I really admire is . . . My dad, who recently retired after 45 years as an OB/GYN here in Little Rock. I admire his heart for serving others, his commitment to his family, and his consistent faith in God.
A sound or noise I love is . . . My children together laughing.
A sound or noise I hate is . . . The buzzer at a football game when you’re behind—there’s always hope until that buzzer.
My favorite word is . . . Hard to pick one but “defenestration” is up there pretty high. It is the throwing of a person or a thing out of a window. Its fun to say and to do.
One word I absolutely hate is . . . Milk. I hate the word, not the substance itself.
My favorite trivia fact is . . . That a swordfish is as fast as a cheetah.
My favorite poets are . . . I don’t know any personally so I can’t say with certainty.
My favorite book is . . . Romans in the New Testament. I like doctrine and Romans is loaded with it. It explains salvation and grace and how we should live as a result.
My favorite movie is . . . Gladiator.
My favorite music is . . . I like Rock-n-Roll but I also like YoYo Ma playing the cello.
Outside of my family, my most treasured belongings are . . . My friends are really belongings but I treasure them. Favorite material possession is my hot tub.
When not at work, I enjoy . . . Sports, photography, and sports photography.
